Dry Creek trail work day : I had one of our members inform me that the Dry Creek Trail was in need of some work. Since the fire, the landscape is pretty bare, and water is really running across the trail pretty fast, causing some major erosion issues. There were 8 of us today who decided to park the bikes and hike in with tools to work on the trail.

Shasta Mine Trail, 10-24-09 : A perfect day for a ride! Today we rode the Shasta Mine Trail, and aside from a couple of downed trees, (which we were able to clean up all but one) the trails were in great shape! It was amazing to see the damage from the heavy rain Whiskeytown received recently, a lot of erosion occured, and we will be needing to do some trail work!

IMBA 2009 Visit : This is our project for our 2009 IMBA Trail Care Crew visit this coming October 8-11. I approached park superintendant Jim Milestone with our idea for a project on a problem section of trail at Whiskeytown National Park. A lot of man hours were approved to get this project "ready" for our TCC visit. Now, all we need is your help at the volunteer day on October 10th. Today, 9/05/09 we got the rocks into place on the trail for placement during our workday. PLEASE, mark your calendars to come out for this event!

Camden Water Ditch : The Camden Water Ditch Trail was made around the turn of the century. This was hand dug by Chinese laborers, and was built to get water to the Camden house for the orchard. Whiskeytowns "Golden Spike" moment : The Grand Opening Ceremony of the Shasta Trinity Trail was well attended! Park Superintendant Jim Milestone conducted a memorable event and the Whiskeytown Park Rangers led a picturesque hike along the 5 mile trail. While Mr. Milestone thanked everyone who helped in this event, I think we should all be thankful we have a Superintendant who is so actively involved in making the most of the park that is within his stewardship! Thank you Jim!

Shasta Mine Beginner Ride 7-11-09 : RMB is really focusing on the beginner riders. We want everyone to be able to feel comfortable in a group style ride. Why a group ride? Safety, for one thing, in a large group you are more likely to out run at least one other person in the event of a wild animal attack, :) ,, and the social aspect. You learn A LOT from riding with others, you pick up tips on technique, equipment, trails, and get to meet a lot of very cool people with the same interests. If you have been wanting to joing the group on a beginner level ride, come on out! We will be having a beginner course on MOST of our Saturday rides, plus a weekly evening ride.

Clear Creek Ride 3/7/09 : The Clear Creek Trail System is a brand new area, and the paths are not "worn in" yet, however it is still a fun ride, and is accessible from either Clear Creek rd, via a trailhead right past where Clear Creek Rd. crosses Clear Creek at the base of the big hill. Or, keep going up the hill, take a right on Cloverdale, and there is another trailhead on Cloverdale.

Clear Creek Trails : The Clear Creek "5 loop" trail, is located on Clear Creek Rd, about 5 miles west of Hwy 273. This is a freshly built trail system, so it is muddy in the rain, and rough when its dry, but give it a chance, this will be awesome by the end of summer!

MULE MOUNTAIN Feb 28 : We had two separate groups today, one group rode from Mary Lake to the Swasey Recreation area, then did the Escalator/Terminator and back, the other group started at Mule Mountain, did the Meiners loop, then up the escalator, down the Terminator, and then the Meiners Loop again. 2007-12-22 RMB Clikapudi Ride : Great Ride today, or was it a trail maintaince day?? RMB crews removed several fallen trees from the recent wind storms. Pleased to say that at the end of the day 100% of curent the curent supply of horizontal trees are off the trail for everyone to enjoy!!! Happy Trails!!! 2007-12-16 RMB Clikaputi Trail Work Day : Thank you very much to the few who braved the drizzly day today and came out and helped with the Clikapudi trail. We were to fix a switchback and solve the water drainage issues that are a result of the trail not being out slopped enough, however we had to change our plans and fix some major damage caused by some equestrians cutting the switchbacks and making a trail straight down the hill. This damaged a retaining wall on one section of the trail, and would have led to some major drainage issues. We barricaded the line they were using, and repaired the damage. If you ever see someone doing this type of thing, please point out to them the damage they are causing. Once again, thank you to those who came out today.

2007-12-15 Salt Creek, Area 51, Jump Trail : Ride started at the River Trail Parking Lot near the Elks Lodge. Crossed River and headed to Salt Creek. Crossed highway and entered Area 51 from Tilton Mine Road. Explored Area 51 and concluded that the area has SIGNIFICANT RECREATIONAL VALUE!! Exit Area 51 and crossed back over highway to enter the Twister. Explored numerous loops in and around the Twister then exited to the Jump Trail and on to the newly paved section of the Sacramento River Trail. GREAT RIDE, started a bit cold but stayed comfortable once we got to the dirt. Many miles of Singletrack!!
